I rejoice in Christ for all His blessing at the Stedman church. I want to
encourage my fellow pastors to keep the faith and keep preaching, teaching,
reaching, caring, sharing, and loving people in your church and community.
In seven years God has blessed us with some growth, but we still remained
about the same size congregation after deaths, moves, and changes. I
continued to cast the vision of growth and increase for the Stedman Church.
In January the Lord spoke to my heart and said "The Stedman Church has
turned the corner." Since then God has blessed us with several high
attendance days and events that has brought people to church with several of
the new families continuing to come. Our average attendance was in the lower
to mid fifties. We had Friend Day in March with an attendance of 170! Many
visitors had their own church but some stayed. Easter followed with about 50
in the Sunrise service and 99 total attendance. The Mother's Day program
attendance was 120 and Father's Day over 100. The Holy Spirit is convicting
and changing people's lives and stirring the hearts of all the Stedman
Church family. God is increasing us spiritually, numerically and
financially. Our Sunday attendance is now averaging in the mid seventies to
lower eighties. I recently conducted a new members class during Sunday
School for two Sundays, starting at 9:30 am. We had 28 in the class and last
Sunday, August 26, 13 new members joined the Stedman Church with more to
follow. Three were baptized that evening. One of them was a sweet elderly
sister in a portable light weight wheel chair who could not stand. She told
us to lower her in the wheel chair into the pool and baptize her. What
rejoicing followed as she and her chair came up out of the water! Another 14
were baptized in May. We are praising God and seeking Him for continued
outreach and growth. We are also praying for God to send us someone with a
heart for youth to be added to our church staff. If you know of someone
qualified God is speaking with about youth ministry, please have
them contact me at
donbaldwin100@hotmail.com.
